NICE-Italy - Development and Innovation at the Italian ECCSEL ERIC Node: Continuity and Strategic Development
NICE-Italy – Evolution and Innovation of the Italian Node of ECCSEL ERIC aims to strengthen and expand the Italian research infrastructures integrated within the European ECCSEL ERIC network, consolidating Italy’s role in research and innovation across the entire CCUS value chain (CO₂ Capture, Utilisation, Transport and Storage). The project introduces two new strategic areas — geothermal energy and hydrogen — in line with the latest evolution of the ECCSEL strategy, promoting low-environmental-impact technologies and contributing to the sustainable energy transition.
CNR-ISMN Palermo participates in WP3 – CO₂ Utilisation, contributing its expertise in the development of nanostructured catalysts, including exsolution-derived catalysts characterised by a reduced noble-metal content and lower reliance on critical raw materials. In particular, ISMN designs and develops catalysts for the conversion of CO₂ into e-fuels including CO₂ methanation reaction.
