Stefano Zampolli graduated in Physics at the University of Bologna in 2000, discussing a thesis on the application of Fuzzy Logic for detection of buried landmines. He is a grant student at CNR-IMM Bologna since April 2000, working primarily on gas sensor characterization and data processing within the sensor and microsystem R&D program. Since 2005 he is researcher in the sensors and microsystem group at CNR-IMM. Deputy Director of CNR-IMM in the year 2024, he is currently Senior Researcher at CNR-ISMN and head of the “Chemical Sensors” research group. Starting in FP5, he has participated to 8 European Projects and has active collaborations with several SMEs, including technology transfer and high-TRL research and development. He is currently Senior Researcher and Deputy Director at CNR-IMM Bologna, leading the “MEMS chemical sensors” group

Attività di ricerca

– Design, development and characterization of sensors and Microsystems for environmental monitoring applications, agri-food analyses, safety and security. – Silicon micromachining technology for integrated multi-sensing devices, ultra-low-power hotplates for solid state gas sensing, microfluidic devices and micromachined gas-chromatographic devices. – Functional and morphological characterization of thin film gas sensors and microfluidic devices. Signal processing with Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks. Development of hardware and software for sensing system automation and signal processing. – Research projects: conceptualization, submission, management, reporting.
