WELCOME MESSAGE The Organizing Committee would like to cordially invite you to the next thematic Workshop “Functional Materials for Cultural Heritage” (Fun4Heritage). The Workshop will be held from 5th to 6th September 2019 in Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019 and UNESCO World Heritage. This will be a two days Workshop, which will feature lectures and poster presentations on selected topics in the field of research developments of functional and innovative nanomaterials, ranging in the areas of functional nanostructured materials and nanotechnologies, engineering and applied science, chemistry of materials and polymers of archeology, microbiology, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sector, earth and physical sciences, by leading researchers in the academic world and public research institutions, operating both in the scientific and industrial communities. Fun4Heritage will offer networking opportunities among peers, recognized leaders in the field, young scientists and students. We hope you are able to join this event and enjoy the stimulating scientific programme. We strongly encourage the participation of young scientists who will actively disseminate their results in oral and poster presentations. We look forward to your participation in “Fun4Heritage” @Matera, UniBAS.
Yours sincerely, The Organizing Committee (chairs) M.R. Plutino (ISMN-CNR) G. Rosace (UniBG) C. Saturnino (UniBAS) M.S. Sinicropi (UniCAL)

ABOUT The Workshop “Functional Materials for Cultural Heritage” (Fun4Heritage, Matera, Italy, September 5-6, 2019) wishes to be an opportunity to present the state of the art in the design and synthesis of functional materials with application in the context of the restoration of cultural heritage and conservative recovery of architectural and artistic heritage. The field of hybrid materials and functional nanocomposites is one of the most extensive multidisciplinary research areas of major importance for the archaeological, artistic and architectural sectors, so as to find a natural place in the setting that will see Matera, in 2019, the European Capital of Culture. Since nowadays a big emphasis is also placed on promoting technology-transfer and spin-off companies creation, we have thought it worthwhile to dedicate a special place to SMEs, start-ups and spin-offs. An “Innovation corner” will be arranged with stands from recently constituted Innovative Spin-off companies or Technological Societies coming from different Italian regions.

PROCEEDINGS
All speakers and poster contributors will have the opportunity to publish a scientific paper (in English language) based on their presentation/poster. The collection of the accepted contributions will be published as a single issue of IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering, adopting a perpetual Open Access policy. IOP Conference Proceedings MSE represents a well-established channel to divulge scientific results presented in important meetings all around the world. Submitted full-length papers (minimum 4 – max 8 pages) will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will have a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) code. The online version of proceedings will have an identification code ISSN. IOP Conference Proceedings is considered by the main international databases, Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus included. Interested authors are kindly requested to anticipate their decision to submit a manuscript by filling the Workshop Fun4Heritage registration form, thus sending it to fun4heritage2019@gmail.com To support editorial expenses a contribution of 70 euros + VAT for each paper is required.
