Scientific responsible for the EFOR project “Energy from renewable sources” on the development of innovative technologies for third generation organic/hybrid photovoltaic devices. Researchers at ISMN in Montelibretti are involved in the development and characterization of nanostructured photoanodes with high surface area and high light harvesting capacity that allow to significantly improve the efficiency of the devices. At ISMN in Montelibretti, researchers are also working on the development of low temperature procedures onto glass-based and flexible substrates.
Scientific responsible of a task on the debundling of carbon nanotubes within the PON Panrex project “Packaging based on nanomaterials for the miniaturization of ricevitors and exciters as radars". This project is based on the use of nanotechnologies in packaging for avionic applications.
Main research interests
Synthesis and characterization of oxide materials with high surface area and ordered pore structure (i.e. TiO2) and hybrid perovskites for the development of highly efficient meso-structured photoanodes for dye sensitized solar cells with liquid electrolyte and solid state devices.
Synthesis of hybrid nanomaterials and surface functionalization for the development of sensitive and selective sensors that can find application for the measurement of clinically important analytes (such as neurotransmitters, antioxidants, etc.) in complex matrices.
Investigation of degradation processes in ancient artifacts and development of smart protective coatings.
Design and synthesis of functionalized nanoparticles and nanocomposite films consisting of nanoparticles embedded into biocompatible polymer matrices for the development of sensitive and selective sensors for the analysis of antioxidants in beverages (such as wine, fruit juices, etc.).
