Joint Research Project: “Assessment of best practises for a safe exposure and storage of Cultural Heritage artefacts” (Project Code: EG13MO3), within the Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Italian Republic and the Arab Republic of Egypt for the years 2013-2015, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italy.
Main research interests
- Chemical and physical synthesis of nanostructured materials, surface functionalization and investigation of the geometric and electronic structure of materials by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), both by conventional and synchrotron radiation sources.
- Synchrotron radiation research activities on high resolution photoemission, photodesorption, investigation of the chirality of adsorbates by circular dichroism from core-levels.
- Sustainable Conservation of Cultural Heritage: innovative analytical techniques for the study of degradation and environmentally-friendly materials for the conservation of both archaeological and monumental metallic and stone (natural and artificial) artifacts.
- Synthesis, surface characterization and reactivity of heterogeneous catalysts.
